Many new desktop computers come with built-in Wi-Fi as well as any laptop today, but some of the less expensive models, or slightly older machines may not have wireless.
Do not despair! You can easily add a wireless adapter (antenna actually) and wire free desktop too, you still have to connect it to your computer, of course.
There are three main things you will need:
1. A wireless router is already configured in your house, if you can use your wireless laptop to get online already, you’re probably okay.
2. Wireless USB-adapter to connect to the desktop, as I said, it’s really just an antenna to pick up the wireless signal to the router.
3. Empty USB port for connecting a wireless adapter
There also are several other things that I would like to note when buying an adapter USB, make sure it is compatible with your computer’s operating system and check the version you get, it’s easy to grab that version, then it does not work with your operating system. Read the box or description of the requirements of compatibility in the first place.
In addition, I would recommend going with a faster protocol for the moment that the “N”, even if your router is “G” or “B”, it will be backwards compatible and should work fine. Then, if you ever do upgrade your router, you have already installed.
Any electronics store like Best Buy, Target, and Staples should have them in stock or you can order them online at Amazon.
Installation should be fairly easy. Almost all of them come with a CD and the wizard to walk you through installation.
I love those magic masters.
